Special thanks to my father Jeff Liebling, for making this record possible,
and to my whole family for helping me get the education I needed to write this record.

This album is about struggles living in city, in a nation, in a culture, in the modern world.
More specifically:
-having a sense of the deep problems without a clear knowledge of their structure
-the desperate hustle and bustle keeping us too busy to see the things we believe in, and the things we do, to uphold that structure
-the fog of propaganda further blinding us and keeping it all going
-the perhaps greater challenge of finally seeing some of that structure
-and the challenge of living in the midst of all this, with or without knowledge of it, as one small, individual piece of the massive picture

I intend for this album to be one continuous listening experience, hence the final track is not available for purchase without the full album.
Therefore, I have provided the all the lyrics for the album here, so that you can read them while listening to the full album, without having to go to the page for each individual track.

I live in a place where we're told
"Dreams come true",
Iron chains turn to gold
They say "A better life waits to be won"
Beyond what we see, just behind that slow setting sun

I chased a mirage to the heart of a desert
It's always one more mile away

I live at the end of an age
Of knowledge and tools
That amount to a cage
And still they say "fight on, and glory you'll find"
But never look back
On those who have been left behind
"The way of the world"
So they say
I'm starting to think we just made it this way

Back to the work it's what we're here to do
Best keep it brief if I run into you
Stay to the script, it tells us what to say
You say "what's up" and I respond with "hey"
Doesn't make sense but it will do for today

Then it's back to the work at hand
Time to be someone
Swimming in the quicksand
The work is never done
It's back to the work at hand

Everyone bound in their place from king to fool
But always room for exceptions to the rule
Boxed in tight, I do what I gotta do

Under a spell
For years and years
It's worked me well
Ruled by a waking dream
That someone, somewhere gave to me
The song of a nightingale
It told me things, told me a tale
The song of a nightingale
I've repeated in my head
Everyday since without fail
The beautiful melody
It got into me

I never noticed the sly spell
While deeper and deeper under it I fell
I've let it go on for so long
Don't even remember the bird, but I've lived its song

The beautiful song I heard
I've let it replace my thoughts with its words
And still to this day i hear it
The voice in me sings that song
Keeps me in a daze
Just sleep walking along
Been long enough
I beg
Be silent now

Built ten-thousand lies tall
The tower is bound to fall
We're keeping facades intact
While foundations rot and crack

Built ten-thousand crimes tall
The blood price is known to all
Push it to the back of our minds
For what we crave costs these crimes

Tired of the lies we've told
The violence we uphold
We call it a criminal's tool
Then we beg it of those who rule

Built ten-thousand lies tall
The tower is bound to fall
